The Mystery of Creation: Chapter 5: The Unseen Kingdom of God: But Is This Scriptural?
But Is This Scriptural?
Now because I am discussing
things from a Biblical perspective, let’s refer to these “forces” as spirits,
or angels. The lesser spirits are like
simple programs that control very simple elements of the universe and our world. Thus, let’s call them “Elementals”, like some
of our ancestors once did, just so we can categorize different spirits based on
their levels of intelligence.
For those who do not think this
is Biblical, let’s give a few verses:
Luke 19:40 states, “I tell you,”
he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” If we take the Bible to be literal, then if
the stones can cry out, they must have some sort of intelligence and energy to
cause them to be able to do that. The
whole reason Jesus said this was because He was trying to let people know that
He must receive praise. If people don’t
praise Him then nature will. If nature
cannot praise Him then Jesus was simply being figurative. That doesn’t seem to be what He was doing in
that passage, however. It seems like He
was being literal.
In case you think Jesus wasn’t
being literal, what about Job 12:7-10.
“But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky,
and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let
the fish in the sea inform you. Which of
these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and
the breath of all mankind.” So…how can
the earth speak or “know the hand of the Lord has done this” if there is no
spirit within the earth?
Or what about Psalm
96:11-12. “Let the heavens (or sky)
rejoice, let the earth be glad, let the sea resound, and all that is in
it. Let the fields be jubilant, and
everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.” Psalm 19:1 says, “The heavens declare the
glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
Some might just consider this
poetry or just symbolism, but if you pair it with what I’ve just presented it
indicates that the Bible was speaking literally. It makes sense that it isn’t just poetry but
a reality that everything that exists has “programming” and intelligence and a
spiritual energy and force. Some are
lesser, like the spirits that control the very elements around us, but some are
very great.
All things that move have a
spirit that energizes them to move. All
things have an intelligence of some kind.
All are programmed with certain characteristics that tell them what to
do, how to do, when to do, where to do, and so on and so forth. Some spirits may be faster than others and
some may be completely stagnant until something powerful interacts with them,
but they exist nonetheless.
So, like animals, these lesser
spirits, these Elementals, have a nature about them and an intelligence. They may be simple-minded and they do not
understand things beyond their programming, but they are intelligent
nonetheless.
