The Mystery of Creation: Chapter 3: Understanding the Trinity: Other Spiritual Traits
Other Spiritual Traits
Various scriptures mention a
“spirit of wisdom.” What is wisdom but a
person’s ability to take in information and determine what the best course of
action is to take in response to that information. In other words, your spirit, which gathers
all information both within you and around you, quickly begins to plan out for
the soul exactly what is best not only for you as an individual but also for
those around you. Wisdom, therefore, is
completely other-centered. It is always
looking to determine what is good for all, not just you.
Along with this, spirits can lie
and can affect your judgments and wisdom.
In 1 Kings 22:23, “The Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all
these prophets of yours.” What this
means is that God can allow and even command an evil spirit to mess with a
person’s wisdom.
Now, to side-track just a bit…Why
would God do this? God cannot lie and He
cannot do evil. Literally! He is perfect, remember? Therefore, why would God ever create a law
that He could not perfectly obey? That
makes no sense. Besides, just as the
programming in a computer must be executed, so it is with God’s Word. Everything that He states is executed by the
Spirit. Therefore, He cannot lie because
everything that He says MUST come to pass.
Everything in the universe would fall apart if God’s Word did NOT get
executed.
However,
God is the God of all things. He can convince
an evil spirit, who has no problem lying, to go mess with someone in order to
fulfill His plans for His people. The lying
spirit was not messing with God’s children.
He was messing with someone who had rejected God completely. In other words, it is like God sent a double
agent into the midst of His enemies and the spy caused the Lord’s enemies to
destroy themselves. (I don’t have time
right now to go into all there is about this, but my point here is that spirits
have minds and personalities. One of the
reasons we know this is because the scripture tells us that they can even lie
to other spirits.)
