The beginning of the Common Era.
Dates from this point forward are in C.E.
|
Interestingly, I have set the beginning of the Common Era here. If you notice, Jesus begins his ministry in
25 C.E. However, in most timelines
Jesus begins his ministry in 28 C.E.
I'm not sure why historians have done this. If Jesus was born 5 C.E., as they claim,
and Jesus was 30 years old when he began his ministry, that would be 25
C.E. Thus 28 C.E. would be when Jesus
died. This means that the dates are
about 2 years off. I do believe,
however, that the temple was destroyed 40 years after Jesus died, for 40 is a
number that consistently pops up in the Bible. It makes sense that God would destroy the
temple 40 years after Messiah had sacrificed his life for the sins of the
world.

Death and resurrection of Jesus.

In Daniel's prophecy of the 70 weeks, found in chapter 9, if it takes
62 weeks from the time Jerusalem is finished being repaired and the time
Jesus dies on the cross, for "after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be
cut off, but not for Himself", and if each week represents 7 years, then
we come to 434 years. This brings us
right to 4113.

The First Jewish-Roman War, the Great Revolt, begins when
anti-taxation protests and attacks upon Roman citizens escalate. The Roman governor, Gessius Florus,
responds by plundering the Jewish Temple.
The tensions increase over the next 3 and a half years.

Many do not believe that Daniel 9's prophecy has been fulfilled yet,
as they believe it is a prophecy for the End Times, when the Anti-Christ will
come to Earth as it states in Revelation.
However, history seems to very perfectly fulfill this prophecy. The 62 weeks lead right up to Christ being
sacrificed on the cross, as is mentioned in Year 4113. So there were 7 weeks between Cyrus
commanding the rebuilding of Jerusalem and its completion and then 62 weeks
up to Christ dying on the cross. Then
notice how it seems a lot of terrible things are going to occur, as if there
is a pause in the 70 weeks. After
Christ dies, there will be desolations.
Then the one who brings desolation shall confirm a covenant with many
for one week. And in the middle of the
week he will end sacrifice and offering.
So here is how I believe this is translated. Christ died, ending 69 weeks. Then there is a gap in time between
Christ's death and the final week of the 70 weeks. The last week begins in Year 4150 when the
First Jewish-Roman War begins. History
tells us that this war lasts for 3 1/2 years until Jerusalem is besieged, the
Temple is destroyed, and from this point on no Jews sacrifice animals
again. Thus, the middle of the week is
when Jerusalem is destroyed and animal sacrifice ends. From that point on, animal sacrifice was
not practiced again except in some smaller communities. Interestingly, it is as if God forced Jews
to stop sacrificing animals because they were no longer needed. Messiah had come! He, being the perfect sacrifice, had
created the Third Temple, that of a person's body, dwelling in their hearts
even as scripture had promised. This all being said, there will undoubtedly be a second time that this prophecy is fulfilled. The book of Revelation teaches us that there will be a time in the future when the Anti-Christ will come and Christ will return again, ushering in a new Heaven and a new Earth. Many of the events in Daniel 9 will repeat themselves during this time. So it is true that though many of these things were fulfilled already with the destruction of Jerusalem, they will happen again in the future. The destruction of Jerusalem is a shadow of things to come; a type of what will happen on a far more grand scale. The Roman Emperor Titus is symbolic of the future Anti-Christ and Gessius Florus is symbolic of the False Prophet that will come. This time, however, instead of the physical Jerusalem and physical Temple, the Anti-Christ and the False Prophet will attack the Spiritual Jerusalem and the Third Temple; this is the Church of Jesus Christ and the body of each human who accepts Christ as their Lord and Savior. Interestingly, this seems to be happening today, doesn't it, as more and more are falling away from Christ and seeking after the things of this world; the images that Satan and his followers create for all of us to worship.

Jerusalem is destroyed by the Roman Emperor Titus.
|
This fulfills Daniel 9's prophecy of weeks. At the end of the destruction, in verse 26,
it says that there would be a flood.
Josephus wrote, "Round the Altar the heaps of corpses grew higher
and higher, while down the Sanctuary steps poured a river of blood and the
bodies of those killed at the top slithered to the bottom." The flood was not a literal flood of water,
but of blood. So many died that day
that Jerusalem had become a flood of blood.
The Hebrew translation for flood means "overwhelm, overflow,
swamp, deluge, sluice, wash, rinse, wash away, swab, swill, torrent, spate,
downpour, downfall, inundation, torrent, stream or current." Therefore, the blood flowing through the
streets would fit well with Daniel 9's fulfillment.

Wikipedia: During the spring
of 71, Titus set sail for Rome. A new military governor was then appointed
from Rome, Lucilius Bassus, whose assigned task was to undertake the
"mopping-up" operations in Judea. He used X Fretensis to besiege
and capture the few remaining fortresses that still resisted. Bassus took
Herodium, and then crossed the Jordan to capture the fortress of Machaerus on
the shore of the Dead Sea and then continued into the Forest of Jardus on the
northern shore of the Dead Sea to pursue some 3,000 Judean rebels under the
leadership of Judah ben Ari, whom he swiftly defeated. Because of illness, Bassus did not live to
complete his mission. Lucius Flavius Silva replaced him, and moved against
the last Judean stronghold, Masada, in the autumn of 72. He used Legio X,
auxiliary troops, and thousands of Jewish prisoners, for a total of 10,000
soldiers. After his orders for surrender were rejected, Silva established
several base camps and circumvallated the fortress. According to Josephus,
when the Romans finally broke through the walls of this citadel in 73, they
discovered that 960 of the 967 defenders had committed suicide.

First Council of Nicaea held.
End of the 5th Age. The 6th Age
begins, the Age of Preservation
|
I count this the end of the Age of Fulfillment because Christianity,
up until this time, was not a government religion nor a truly organized
religion. The Gospel of Jesus Christ
was persecuted until this time.
Therefore, Christians were not so focused on preserving
Christianity. They were focused on
spreading the Gospel and on the Gifts of the Spirit. After this date, Christians began to
religion-ize Christianity in order to preserve it. Besides this, secular leaders began to
heavily influence doctrine, thus perverting the Gospel and the teachings of
the Early Church leaders. This being
said, many good things came out of this change as well. Christianity became a leading religion, and
many were saved throughout the centuries because of this. However, in the same respect, many atrocities
were done in the name of Christ, such as the Crusades and the
Inquisition. So although many came to
a saving knowledge of Christ, Christians, because of this switch in
mentality, had committed many terrible crimes against others. Christ's ultimate teaching of "love
one another as yourselves" seemed to be thrown out for political
reasons, power trips, and even individuals' desires to do right by getting
people saved but simply doing it in the wrong way.

Martin Luther publishes his Ninety-five Theses and sparks the
Reformation. The 6th Age ends. The 7th Age begins, the Last Age; the End
Times.
|
A lot happens after the Reformation.
Again, many good things happen, but also many bad things. One major good thing is that common men
begin to read the Bible and study it with a newfound desire to be closer to
God. Gifts of the Spirit begin to
increase again. Revivals occur. There is a true move of God as the Spirit
is poured out on all flesh. The Gospel
is once more spread across the world as missionaries begin to go into new
lands wherever the Gospel has not been preached. The bad that occurs is the decentralization
of Christianity. No longer are
Christians united, but they begin to fight amongst themselves, killing one
another simply because they don't believe the same things about Christ. Denomination upon denomination begin to
rise up, and the church becomes divided.
This then destroys the credibility of the church, and the Bible, so
that many scientists and philosophers begin to seek new answers to the
questions of life. Historians begin to
find new reasons to "disprove" the Bible's accuracy. Now, even Christians have begun to throw
out the Bible as inaccurate, only using it as a "guidebook" instead
of as a truly foundational document that is 100% accurate. Instead of trusting God's Word, even
Christians begin to come up with new beliefs and new ideas about Christ that
deviate heavily from the Early Church leaders and from Christ himself. Now, those who say they are Christian are
not always truly Christians. Now we
find Christianity is just another religion, and more and more Christians are
opting to accept a universal religious stance that all religions lead to
truth and we should all just get along and not fight about our beliefs. Now it is a crime for a Christian to stand
on the Word of God and proclaim God's truth because we have allowed our
division to destroy us. This is why
Christ said, "A house divided cannot stand." Because of the Reformation, Christianity's
power has both increased and decreased.
Those who truly follow God, their power has increased. Meanwhile, those who do not follow Christ,
they make it difficult to teach others about Christ, for their lies now cloud
out the truth, warping the perceptions of many. Those who say they are Christians but do
not practice the true teachings of Christ, they give a bad name to all
Christians everywhere, destroying our credibility and our reputation.

Current Day
|
We now live in the 7th Millennium of the history of mankind. Notice how the events of the 1900s would
then have been the end of the 6th Millennium.
Thus, it makes sense that the end of the 6th Millennium would see the
escalation of World-Wide events such as the World Wars, he Cold War, 9/11,
etc. We are seeing the events of the
last days played out. Certainly, no
man can predict when the end will finally come, for Jesus said that "no
man knows the day nor the hour" but we can all see that it's
coming. Mankind cannot continue to
live as it is living today without tragedy striking. The more reliant we become on technology,
the greater our fall will be. Mankind
realizes we are destroying our world, for movies and TV shows often portray
this theme. This is why so many are
looking to the stars, to escape Earth.
We are destroying it and we know disaster is on its way. This should tell us all the more that the
end is coming. If God destroyed the
Tower of Babel to keep mankind from reaching the heavens too soon, how much
more will He bring the end of all things before mankind is able to colonize a
single planet? Space is hostile. We were not meant to go there. No planets near us can support life. Therefore, we know that once Earth is gone,
destroyed by our own sins, that is it!
Then God will return and recreate the Earth into a new paradise where
all those who call upon the Name of the Lord shall be resurrected and shall
live forever in peace and harmony.
